Since April and May are among the windiest times of the year in South Padre, many people travel to SPI to learn how to kiteboard. With the influx of students, it has been decided that we need another boat. Air padre's head instructor just received a new boat dubbed the "Chubasco". The boat was named after Brett Newcomb! Brett has been so kindly nicknamed "Chubasco", which is spanish for 'the storm'. So, Brett can now use the new "Chubasco" on all of his lessons this season.
The new boat is a 1810 nauticbay fishing boat. The boat was chosen for its sleek design and ability to easily get into shallow areas, along with its ample storage areas. The new fishing boat will expand the amount of kiteboarding students that Air Padre can take out on lessons during a single day. The 1810 Nauticbay has a modified V bow which helps smooth out the chop. A tunnel in stern also means it can run in less than a foot of water! Fishing boats have proven themselves for the shallow waters of laguna madre bay where all of the kiteboarding lessons and kite camps take place.
