On of the Boats our Captains use for downwinders in the bayDownwinder are a great way to maximize your progression rate, when your time is too valuable to waste staying upwind. Think of the walk you'd have if you went out and did 200 carving turns and 75 jumps nearly back to back. The downwinder allow to to forget about staying upwind and focus on the next level. Once you have learned to stay upwind there are much more exciting things you can do. Read on to get an idea of the various type of serivces we offer to see which level you qualify for.
The boats are a good size for small groups, and easy to board.We offer different options for the downwind experience. Your experience level will dictate which one you qualify for. We use IKO rider levels to distinguish competencies. The beginner requires a IKO level K-3. Whereas to do an intermediaste solo run you'll need to be M-3. For the surf you must be N-3 IKO plus we add toeside riding and "clean" slide and carve transitions. For further explainations read on to see which one fits your level of riding.
Kiteboarding Downwinder: Beginners Supervised
This one is for you if you're riding both directions and almost staying upwind. For Groups of three or four the supervised downwinder is perfect if you don't want to worry about tangled lines, inverted kite, deflated leading edge or the host of problems that often end in self rescue and the swim of shame. At only $100 per person this is a great way to avoid begginers common frustrations.
Kiteboarding Downwinder: Intermediate Solo
An intermediate is some who can stay up wind and has figured out how to keep the kite in the air and doesn't invert, swist lines, etc., on a regular basis. You come out on the boat with someoneelses lesson and get setup and launched first, at the end of the lesson we'll come pick you up. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. You are responsible for staying close by without getting in the way of the lesson. Don't head off into the sunset, as we are busy teaching and can not simply chase you down. Practically free at $69!
Kiteboarding Downwinder: Advanced Supervised Surfside Session
To get out in the surf you need to have some skills, multi transition techniques, toe-side riding, load and pop, and s-turns will serve you well as you head out for a wave session. Supervised by coach who is also riding this guided surfside adventure is just the thing for taking it to the next level. Two riders and one rider/coach just $125 per person.
